TNG v12 adds the capability to track Y-DNA and mtDNA test results to the DNA Tests capability added in TNG v11
5. DNA: Jeff Robison's and Ken Roy's DNA mod has been incorporated. This provides several significant enhancements to the previous method of tracking DNA tests:
- adds some additional privacy controls
- adds the capability to enter Y-DNA test results
- adds the capability to compare Y-DNA test results
- adds the capability to enter mtDNA test results
- adds the capability to enter some information pertaining to atDNA tests
Privacy Controls
- tests tracking can be done for people who are not in your TNG database
- this allows entering tests taken by living people when you do not include living people in your TNG database
- test takers names can be marked as Keep Private so the test taker name is only viewable to the TNG Administrator
- administrator notes field was added to tests so you can enter notes that are not displayed to visitors and users
- information displayed can be controlled for each test tracked
Y-DNA Test Results
Y-DNA tests in TNG v12 can now track:
- values of markers tested
- Haplogroup can be marked as confirmed
- if not marked confirmed it is displayed as predicted
- most distant ancestor
- most recent common ancestor (MRCA) between the site owner and a test taker
- ancestral surnames are automatically filled in based on the TNG database
- if the option is set in General Settings > DNA Tests section
- if the test taker is in the database
Y-DNA Test Comparison
When selecting Y-DNA tests in a search, you can now select tests to be compared
mtDNA Test Results
mtDNA tests in TNG v12 can now track:
- values for HVR1, HVR2, and Coding Region differences
- Reference sequence can be indicated as
- RSRS (Reconstructed Sapiens Reference Sequence)
- rCRS (revised Cambridge Reference Sequence)
- Haplogroup is marked as confirmed
- most distant ancestor
- most recent common ancestor (MRCA) between the site owner and a test taker
- ancestral surnames are automatically filled in based on the TNG database
- if the option is set in General Settings > DNA Tests section
- if the person taking the test is in the database
atDNA Test Results
Only limited test result information can be entered for atDNA tests
- most recent common ancestor (MRCA) can be a Family
- ancestral surnames are NOT automatically filled in because this causes a max execution time exceeded problem on some sites
- you can enter the information manually
Note that the Most Distant Ancestor field is not provided because on the atDNA test there is not a direct line to a single ancestor, there are multiple line to multiple ancestors.
DNA Groups
DNA Groups can now be created to link tests together for common ancestors
