Modifying the status or startup of a Service
You will be identifying the name and of a service. Goto: Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and Identify the service that might be another instance of MYSQL.
Right click on the service.
Select "Properties"
From this screen you will be able to Identify: "The path to the Executable" If this shows that the path is to a MYSQL file other than the one for WAMP (Typical WAMP MYSQL path might be: c:\wamp\apps\xxx)
This verifies that your system is running more than one instance of MYSQL.
Select the Startup Type. Use the pulldown in the :Startup type to set the service to Manual or Disabled.
Stop or Pause the service from the Service Status area.
